If you’ve been doing some serious wonderlusting like me in this freezing weather, and want a free hotel stay somewhere nice – you may just want to get your bags ready…
There’s a way for you to get a free hotel stay at at the famous 4* Wyndham New Yorker hotel in downtown Manhattan (that can cost over £200 a night) after a little mattress hopping on home shores.
How do I get a free hotel stay?
Thanks to a promotion from Wyndham Rewards, you can earn 15,000 reward points (enough for one nights free hotel stay at any one of their 8,000+ hotels worldwide) when you register and book two stays at any Wyndham chain hotel between now and June 30th. This can be any hotel in their range and for any duration… as long as they are two separate stays.
Here’s the kicker… as it’s valid for staying at ANY hotel, this includes their value range of hotels including Ramada and Days Inn – where you can find some seriously cheap rooms. After a quick check, the cheapest room I found was a night at a Days Inn hotel in Sheffield for £32.30, staying on the 4th-5th May (price may vary depending on dates you choose).
Simply do that twice, and for spending £64.60, you’ve qualified for 15,000 reward points (a free night anywhere in the world.) You can use your free night on the expensive brands too to get the most out of it!
My top pick for using your free hotel stay is the Wyndham New Yorker at 15,000 points per night. A night in this hotel can cost £200+ at peak times, so you can really maximise your freebie with this hotel.
Even if you weren’t planning on staying at any hotels between now and June, but wanted a trip to New York, it may be worth going on a “Mattress Run” as it’s known in the travel hacking community. You’ll save £130ish on the nights stay in New York and get a few nights away in Britain – all in one deal.
What are the T&Cs?
In order to claim the free hotel stay bonus, you’ll need to register to the Wyndham rewards scheme and register for the promotion here on its website (just click the huge banner and follow the instructions). Once that’s done, simply book your two separate stays through the Wyndham website by 30th June and complete your stays by 31st July, and you’ll be credited your 15,000 points within 2-4 weeks of your second stay.
Once you have your points, you can use the Wyndham Website again to book your free night at any hotel (subject to availability). I would check on a hotel comparison site such as Trivago to make sure you are getting a good deal on the points collection however, as you may find a cheap room elsewhere and be able to save your free hotel stay.
The free night is valid at any hotel, so if you didn’t want to use it in New York, there are several other options for hotels in London (Days Inn Hyde Park norm £100ish a night) and Dubai (Ramada downtown Dubai norm £100+ a night) to name a few.
